Shaped by Jesus.
Serving Others.
Showing People How to Do the Same.
Our mission is grounded in two statements made by Jesus. The first statement is known as the Great Commandment and the second is known as the Great Commission.
Simply put, the Great Commandment is to love God and love people, and the Great Commission is to show other people how to live in faithfulness to the Great Commandment.
Our mission is to be shaped by Jesus, to serve others, and to show people how to do the same.
We do that in three ways:
We become whatever we spend most time doing. We believe that Jesus is more concerned with who we are rather than what we do. Who we are will determine what we do and what we do only reveals who we are. Are we a replication of the word or the world?
We love people best when we love God most, and we believe our love for God fuels our love for others. To love like Jesus is to have an overwhelming sense of compassion for those who are “like sheep without a shepherd.”
Our environment has a profound impact on who we become. If you pay attention, you can see that we become a composite of the people we hang out with, the music we like, and the news sources we consume. It is the prayer of this church that Jesus would fill every aspect of our lives.

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
Garden City Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
Our beliefs are taken from the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and that men were inspired by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.
We believe in one personal God who exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power, authority and glory. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.
We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin born Son of God who lived in flesh, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who regenerates and indwells every believer in Jesus, assures us of our salvation, guides us into all truth, glorifies Jesus and convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and empowers us for service.
We believe mankind is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.
We believe salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift from God.
We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who belong to a local congregation and have trusted by faith in the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him, obeying Him and bringing the gospel to the world.
We believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to the earth and the establishing of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, and the final judgment. We believe that our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
